The day before my Vacation Package officially kicked off turned out to be one of my favorite parts of the entire trip. No park admission needed — just a relaxed, Disney-filled day at my own pace.
Here’s exactly how I spent it, hour by hour.
Before we dive into the schedule, here’s a quick look at how the day unfolded across Tokyo Disney Resort. I’ve numbered each stop in order so you can follow along on the map!

① Maihama Station — Arrival & Resort Line Day Pass
② Tokyo Disneyland Station — Hotel check-in & Bon Voyage
③ Resort Gateway Station — Shopping at Ikspiari, Disney Store& Starbucks break
② Tokyo Disneyland Station — Back to the hotel room
④ Tokyo DisneySea Station — Oceano dinner & Believe!
All of these stops are connected by the Disney Resort Line — the monorail that loops around the entire resort. As you can see, you can cover a surprising amount of ground without ever stepping inside a park!

🚉 11:00 AM — Arriving at Maihama Station
First stop: Maihama Station, the gateway to Tokyo Disney Resort.
Before hopping on the Disney Resort Line (the monorail that loops around the resort), I picked up a 1-Day Pass rather than paying per ride.

💡 Why the 1-Day Pass? I knew I’d be riding the Resort Line at least 3 times throughout the day — to Disneyland Station, over to Ikspiari, back to the hotel, and later to DisneySea Station for dinner. The day pass works out cheaper and means one less thing to think about!
🏨 11:30 AM — Tokyo Disneyland Hotel: Pre-Check-In & Luggage Drop
One stop later on the Resort Line and I arrived at Disney Land Station — with Tokyo Disneyland Hotel right there at the entrance.

Even though the official check-in time is 4:00 PM, I headed straight to the front desk for a pre-check-in and luggage drop-off.
💡 Why bother checking in early? If you wait until 4:00 PM, you’ll likely queue with everyone else. By pre-checking in now, the moment 4 PM hits, you can go straight to your room — no stopping at reception. Your luggage will already be waiting for you inside.
⚠️ Important: Don’t forget to collect your Happy Entry ticket at check-in. This cannot be reissued if lost!
🛍️ 12:00 PM — Bon Voyage: Ears, Outfits & Souvenirs
A short walk from the hotel brought me to Bon Voyage, one of the largest Disney merchandise stores at the resort.
This is the move. By shopping here the day before, I could:
- Pick up my ears and outfit and wear them into the park the next morning
- Browse at leisure without the park-day time pressure
- Get souvenirs sorted early so they’re already packed away!
🎡 1:00 PM — Ikspiari: Shopping & the Disney Store
Next up, Ikspiari — Tokyo Disney Resort’s shopping and entertainment complex. It’s easy to spend a couple of hours here just wandering around.
The highlight for me was the Disney Store inside Ikspiari, which stocks exclusive items you won’t find at other Disney Stores. Always worth a browse!

☕ 3:00 PM — Starbucks Break at Ikspiari
After all that shopping, I rewarded myself with a break at the Starbucks inside Ikspiari. A little recharge before the evening ahead!

🛏️ 4:00 PM — Finally, Room Check-In!
Back on the Resort Line to Disneyland Station, and straight up to the room — no queuing, no waiting at reception. Thanks to the pre-check-in this morning, it was seamless.
I had a couple of hours to relax, unpack, and enjoy the room before dinner.

🚝 6:00 PM — Resort Line to DisneySea Station
Time to head out again! I hopped back on the Resort Line and rode to Tokyo DisneySea Station for the evening’s main event.
🍽️ 6:30 PM — Dinner at Oceano, Hotel MiraCosta
Dinner was at Oceano, the Mediterranean buffet restaurant inside Tokyo DisneySea Hotel MiraCosta.
Since my visit coincided with Tokyo DisneySea’s 25th Anniversary “Sparkling Jubilee” celebrations, the buffet had been updated with a special anniversary menu — a lovely bonus!

The reservation was made through the Disney hotel guest priority booking system, which opens earlier than the general public. Definitely take advantage of this if you’re staying at a Disney hotel.
(A full dedicated Oceano review post is coming soon!)
🌊 7:10 PM — Watching Believe! Sea of Dreams from the Oceano Terrace
The highlight of the evening: Believe! Sea of Dreams, Tokyo DisneySea’s spectacular nighttime harbor show — watched from the private terrace at Oceano!
You get to enjoy the show from a prime location, without having to find a spot in the park or stand around waiting. Just sit back, finish your meal, and let the show come to you.

And here’s the strategic bonus: by watching Believe! tonight, my entire DisneySea day tomorrow is free — no need to pause for the show. More riding time!
🌙 8:00 PM — Back to the Hotel, Good Night!
Show over, dinner done. Resort Line back to Disneyland Station, and into the hotel for an early night.
Tomorrow, the real magic begins. 🏰
💡 The Bottom Line
| Highlight | Why It’s Worth It |
| 🚝 Resort Line 1-Day Pass | Cost-effective if you’re riding 3+ times |
| 🏨 Pre-check-in & luggage drop | Skip the 4PM queue, go straight to your room |
| 🛍️ Bon Voyage shopping | Enter the park next morning already dressed & ready |
| 🎡 Ikspiari exploration | Exclusive Disney Store items + relaxed evening vibe |
| 🍽️ Oceano dinner | Watch Believe! without stepping inside the park |
| 📦 Souvenirs sorted early | Already packed away before the park days even begin |
The best part about this whole day? No park ticket needed. You get to soak up the Disney atmosphere, tick off your shopping list, watch a harbor show, and enjoy a gorgeous dinner — all before your Vacation Package even starts.
Next up: Day 1 at Tokyo Disneyland — time to put that Attraction Special Ticket to work! 🎢
