Day 1 at Tokyo Disneyland — Unlimited Rides, Happy Entry & a Rainy Adventure (Part 1)

Blog

After a perfect pre-stay evening watching Believe! from Oceano, it was finally time for the main event — Day 1 of my Vacation Package at Tokyo Disneyland.

Spoiler: it rained. A lot. But honestly? That turned out to be a blessing in disguise.

Pre-Stay Day: My Full Schedule Before the Magic Begins 04/2026
Not sure how to spend your pre-stay day at Tokyo Disney? Here's my full hour-by-hour schedule — from Bon Voyage shopping to watching Believe! at Oceano, all without a park ticket!

📋 What to Expect in This Post

In this post, I’ll walk you through the first half of my Disneyland day — from Happy Entry through to lunch. Here’s a quick overview of how the morning went:

  • 🌅 Happy Entry — an almost-empty Cinderella Castle all to myself
  • 🎢 Fantasyland & Toontown — knocking out the family rides before the crowds arrived
  • ⚡ Attraction Special Ticket in action — skipping 80-minute queues like it’s nothing
  • 🍋 Free churros & drinks — making the most of the Vacation Package perks
  • 🍱 Lunch at Restaurant Hokusai — a birthday surprise I wasn’t expecting

Part 2 will cover the afternoon and evening — including the castle show and more!

📅 Morning Schedule

🏨 8:15 AM — Straight from the Hotel to the Park Gates

One of the biggest perks of staying at Tokyo Disneyland Hotel? The park entrance is literally right outside the door.

I stepped out of the hotel and was at the gates within minutes — no commute, no stress. Bag check was smooth and queue-free, and I was in line and ready to go well before Happy Entry began.

💡 Happy Entry time this day: 8:45 AM. General opening: 9:00 AM.

🏰 8:45 AM — Happy Entry & DPA at Cinderella Castle

The gates opened and within 2 minutes I was inside the park. First order of business: grab a Disney Premier Access (DPA) for the evening castle show.

With the Attraction Special Ticket covering all the rides, I had zero need for attraction DPAs — but securing a spot for the nighttime castle show was a priority. Task completed in seconds while walking toward the castle.

And then — Cinderella Castle. Practically deserted. Just us, the rain, and one of the most iconic castles in the world.

The weather was honestly terrible. Pouring rain, strong wind — not exactly ideal photo conditions. But an empty Cinderella Castle doesn’t come around often, so out came the umbrella and I made it work. Totally worth it.

🎠 9:00 AM — Fantasyland: Riding Everything Before the Crowds

Fantasyland doesn’t have the biggest thrill rides, but it’s one of the busiest areas by midday thanks to families with young children. The strategy? Hit it early.

That last one says it all. 5 minutes vs 30 minutes — the Attraction Special Ticket already paying for itself.

🐇 9:30 AM — Toontown: Another Kid-Friendly Area Knocked Out Early

Same logic as Fantasyland — Toontown fills up fast with families, so morning is the time to go.

☕ Mid-Morning Break — Free Churros & Drinks in the Rain

By this point, the rain and wind had picked up significantly, so we ducked inside for a well-earned break.

This was the perfect moment to redeem our free churros and free drink vouchers from the Vacation Package. Warm, dry, and snacking — not a bad way to wait out the rain!

We also grabbed rain ponchos at this point. Lesson learned: always pack one, but if you forget, they’re available in the park.

🕥 10:30 AM — Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast (80-min queue → 5 min!)

The rain eased up, and it was time for one of Disneyland’s most spectacular attractions.

The standby queue showed 80 minutes. With our Attraction Special Ticket: 5 minutes.

The full experience — pre-show, waiting area, and the ride itself — took about 25 minutes total. And every single second was worth it. The detail inside Beast’s Castle is absolutely breathtaking.

🤖 11:00 AM — The Happy Ride with Baymax (60-min queue → 5 min!)

My personal favorite attraction at Tokyo Disneyland.

Standby: 60 minutes. Our wait: 5 minutes. I could have ridden this ten times and been happy.

🥤 11:15 AM — Second Churros & Drink Break at Tomorrowland Terrace

Yes, we redeemed our vouchers again. No regrets.

This time I treated myself to the Sparkling Drink (Pineapple & Orange with Nata de Coco) — served in an adorable Baymax souvenir cup. The drink itself was refreshing, but let’s be honest… the cup was the real star. 😄

And the churros this visit were the cinnamon flavored ones — with a little surprise inside. When you bite into them, the cross-section reveals a Mickey Mouse shape. Adorable and delicious. Check out the photo below — you’ll see exactly what I mean! 🎉

💡 The free churros and drink vouchers can be redeemed multiple times throughout your stay — so use them often!

👾 11:40 AM — Monsters, Inc. Ride & Go Seek! (50-min queue → 5 min!)

Standby: 50 minutes. Our wait: 5 minutes. Sensing a pattern here? 😄

The Attraction Special Ticket was working flawlessly — every single ride, minimal wait, maximum fun.

🍱 12:00 PM — Lunch at Restaurant Hokusai

To wrap up the morning, we had a reservation at Restaurant Hokusai — a Japanese restaurant inside the park serving traditional dishes.

I went for the seafood rice bowl; my partner opted for the tempura set meal and unagi rice bowl. The food was delicious.

And then — a lovely surprise. Since it was my birthday, the receipt came printed with a “Happy Birthday” message. A small touch, but it made me smile. 🎂

💡 The Bottom Line

Here’s a quick recap of how the morning played out — and just how much the Attraction Special Ticket saved us:

👾 11:40 AMMonsters, Inc.: 50-min queue → 5 min

By noon, we had already ridden 8 attractions — most with virtually no wait — and enjoyed multiple free churros and drinks along the way. And the day was only half over.

Stay tuned for Part 2 — the afternoon and evening await! 🏰✨
