Planning a trip to Tokyo Disney? Here’s one tip that completely changed how I experience my visits — and the best part is, it works whether you’re on a Vacation Package or not.
The strategy is simple: check in one night early.
I know it sounds like an extra expense — and yes, it is. But once you see everything a pre-stay makes possible, I think you’ll agree it’s worth every yen. On my most recent trip, I was using the 2026 Attraction Unlimited Vacation Package, but everything I’m about to share applies to any Tokyo Disney trip.

🏨 Where I Stayed: Tokyo Disneyland Hotel
For this trip, I booked the Tokyo Disneyland Hotel for both my pre-stay and my Vacation Package nights — same hotel, same room type, two nights in a row.
This means I checked in the evening before my Vacation Package officially began, got settled in, and woke up already inside the Disney bubble. No rushing, no logistics. Just magic✨
Of course, your hotel choice will depend on your own trip plans — but the pre-stay strategy works with any Disney hotel!
✅ Why Pre-Staying Is a Game Changer
1. Skip the Mid-Day Check-In Chaos
Without a pre-stay, you’d normally have to leave the park during your first day just to check in and drop off your bags. With a pre-stay already done, you can focus 100% on the park from the very first minute — no interruptions.
2. Happy Entry from Day 1
Guests staying at certain Disney hotels are eligible for Happy Entry — early park admission before the general gates open. Pre-staying means you can use this perk right from Day 1.
Happy Entry is a great opportunity to stroll through an almost-empty park, take photos without a single crowd in sight, and ride smaller, lesser-known attractions with barely any wait. That peaceful morning atmosphere is something you simply can’t replicate later in the day.
On my trip, I was using the Attraction Unlimited Vacation Package — which meant I had a different approach to Happy Entry. Rather than rushing to popular rides, I used the quiet morning hours purely for photos and a relaxed park experience, saving the big attractions for later when my unlimited pass was in full effect. But however you choose to use it, Happy Entry is a perk worth having from Day 1.
3. Shop at Bon Voyage the Night Before
Right next to Tokyo Disneyland Hotel is Bon Voyage, one of the largest Disney merchandise stores at the resort. Shopping here the evening before means you can pick up your ears, matching outfits, or souvenirs before stepping into the park.
- ✅ You’re already dressed and ready from the moment you walk through the gates
- ✅ Less time shopping inside the park = more time on attractions
- ✅ Less to carry around all day
4. Explore Ikspiari
Also within walking distance is Ikspiari, Tokyo Disney Resort’s shopping and entertainment complex — complete with a Disney Store worth a browse. It’s a perfect way to spend a relaxed evening before your big park day.
5. Actually Enjoy Your Disney Hotel
Let’s be real — when you’re in full park mode, the hotel becomes just a place to sleep. Pre-staying gives you the rare chance to truly explore and appreciate the hotel itself. If you’re spending the money on a Disney hotel experience, you deserve to enjoy every corner of it!
💡 The Bottom Line
A pre-stay isn’t just an extra night’s sleep — it’s a strategic move that sets your entire Tokyo Disney trip up for success. Less stress, smarter shopping, better photos, and a smoother start to your park days.
Whether you’re on a Vacation Package or planning a regular visit, if your budget allows it, I can’t recommend it enough.
