Tokyo Disney has dozens of attractions — but if it’s your first visit, or you simply want to make the most of your time, knowing which rides are the most popular (and how long you’ll actually wait) makes all the difference.

In this post, I’ve ranked the must-ride attractions at both parks based on real wait times and popularity. Use this as your starting point for planning your day!
⚠️ A quick note: Wait times vary by season, day of the week, and time of day. The figures below are general averages based on my personal experience. Peak periods (school holidays, weekends, special events) will push these numbers higher. For real-time wait times, always check the official Tokyo Disney Resort app on the day of your visit.
The undisputed king of Tokyo Disneyland. This attraction opened in 2020 and has been the park’s most popular ride ever since — and honestly, the hype is completely justified.
You ride through Beast’s enchanted castle in a magical teacup, surrounded by incredibly detailed scenes from the film. The technology, the storytelling, the sheer scale of it — there is nothing quite like it at any other Disney park in the world. If you only ride one thing at Disneyland, make it this.
💡 DPA sells out fast — purchase it the moment you enter the park.
🥈 #2 — The Happy Ride with Baymax

A wildly fun, music-filled spinning ride that never gets old. The attraction moves through a colorful world set to an upbeat soundtrack, and the spinning element means no two rides are ever quite the same.
One practical bonus: there’s no pre-show, and the merge point with the standby queue is right before boarding if you purchase DPA — so a short wait really is a short wait. My personal favorite ride at Disneyland. I may have ridden it three times in one day. 🤖
💡 DPA is available and worth grabbing if Beauty and the Beast is already sold out.
🥉 #3 — Splash Mountain

Thrill seekers, families
A classic log flume ride with a big drop finale — and yes, you will get wet. The theming is charming throughout, building up to that signature plunge that everyone in the boat screams through together.
💡 On hot summer days, the wait for this one can stretch dramatically. DPA is your best friend here.

One of the most unique dark rides at any Disney park in the world. The trackless ride system means your vehicle moves freely and unpredictably — no two rides follow the same path. Gentle, charming, and genuinely innovative.
⚠️ The free Priority Pass system for this attraction is scheduled to end in late August 2026. Details on what replaces it have not yet been announced — check the official Tokyo Disney Resort website for updates.
#5 — Big Thunder Mountain

The classic runaway mine train — fast, fun, and suitable for most ages. It’s not the most intense thrill ride at the park, but it’s consistently one of the most enjoyable. Great for families looking for a bit of excitement without anything too scary.
⚠️ Same Priority Pass note as above — scheduled to end late August 2026.
#6 — Haunted Mansion

Under normal circumstances, Haunted Mansion is one of the more manageable waits at Disneyland — a spooky, atmospheric ride through a ghost-filled estate. But come November and December, everything changes.
The Christmas version of Haunted Mansion is one of the most beloved seasonal events at Tokyo Disneyland.🎄 The entire attraction is transformed into a Nightmare Before Christmas themed experience, and the wait times jump to reflect it — often 80 minutes or more. If you’re visiting during the Christmas season, this becomes a top-three priority.
⚠️ Priority Pass scheduled to end late August 2026.
🌊 Tokyo DisneySea — Top Attractions
DisneySea is a different beast entirely. Wait times here are longer across the board, and the park rewards those who plan ahead. Here’s what you need to know.
🥇 Joint #1 — Soarin Fantastic Flight & Anna and Elsa’s Frozen Journey

These two attractions consistently dominate DisneySea’s wait times — and for very good reason.
Soarin’: Fantastic Flight is a breathtaking hang-gliding simulation that takes you over some of the most beautiful landmarks on earth. The scale, the scents, the sensation of flight — it’s unlike anything else at the resort.
Anna and Elsa’s Frozen Journey is the newest attraction at Fantasy Springs, and arguably the most technically impressive. You sail through scenes from Frozen in stunning detail, culminating in a finale that genuinely takes your breath away.
Both attractions have DPA available — and both sell out quickly. Grab DPA for at least one of these the moment you enter the park.
🥈 Joint #2 — Peter Pan’s Never Land Adventure, Rapunzel’s Lantern Festival & Toy Story Mania!

Three very different attractions that share the same tier of popularity.
Peter Pan’s Never Land Adventure takes you on a 3D flying boat journey through Never Land — one of the most immersive new rides at the resort.
Rapunzel’s Lantern Festival is pure magic, culminating in a lantern-filled finale straight out of the film. The queue area alone is worth experiencing.
Toy Story Mania! is the competitive shooting game that turns every ride into a friendly rivalry. Infinitely replayable — especially if you have someone to compete against.
#3 — Journey to the Center of the Earth
⏱️ Average wait
60–100 min (morning)
🔥 Peak wait

Thrill seekers
Here’s something most visitors don’t realize: Journey to the Center of the Earth has one of the most extreme afternoon wait times in the entire park — regularly exceeding 200 minutes. Yet in the morning, it’s often surprisingly manageable.
Why? Almost everyone rushes to Soarin’ and Frozen Journey first, using their DPA budget on those. By the time they consider Center of the Earth, the DPA is often still available — but adding a third paid skip costs money most guests aren’t willing to spend. So they queue. And the queue builds, and builds, and builds through the afternoon.
The strategy: ride Journey to the Center of the Earth as early in the morning as possible, before the afternoon crowds pile in. It’s one of the most thrilling attractions at the entire resort — a high-speed descent through a volcanic landscape with an ending that never fails to get a reaction.

The only looping roller coaster at Tokyo Disney Resort. Fast, intense, and over in a flash — but the thrill factor is high. If you love coasters, this one is non-negotiable.
⚠️ Priority Pass scheduled to end late August 2026.

A drop tower experience wrapped in an elaborate haunted hotel story. The theming is exceptional — the buildup is almost as good as the drop itself. DisneySea’s version has its own unique storyline that sets it apart from other Tower of Terror attractions around the world.

DisneySea’s wait times are significantly longer than Disneyland’s across the board. If you’re serious about riding everything, knowing how to navigate the park is essential. Check out my full Vacation Package experience to see how I tackled DisneySea like a pro! 👇
